Hamilton Residents' Association is a group for residents within the Hamilton (Leicester) area to communicate and support each other in making Hamilton a great place to live in.

On Saturday, 19th July, members of Hamilton Residents’ Association joined with members of the Natural History Section of Leicester Literary & Philosophical Society on a mini safari to explore the grassy wetlands that lie between the north end of the Hamilton estate and Melton Brook. The event was led by Russell Parry, Botanical Recorder for Leicestershire and Rutland.
A wide variety of plants and animals were found, including these tiny but colourful Green Leafhoppers, which were hiding in the grass.
Russell commented that it was the most successful and useful outdoor meeting of this type that he had ever attended, not least because it provided the opportunity to help the people of Hamilton appreciate that 'next door' they have one of the finest remaining wetlands in Leicester.

Hamilton Residents Association, in collaboration with Hamilton Library, Leicester City Council, and with matched funding from the charity “London Heart,” has now publicly launched the newly installed heart defibrillator on the outside wall of the Hamilton Library!
Councillor Ashiedu Joel was present to cut the tape and declare the facility available for the community to use when necessary. The defibrillator is housed in a secure cabinet that is illuminated and temperature controlled and also ensures the unit is always charged up and ready for use. Access is controlled by the emergency services on a 999 call, and they will also assist by giving step-by-step instructions to anyone who is needing to use it.
Defibrator Training Workshops
HRA recently organised two Defibrator training workshops, which were led by Harsha Kotecha, an East Midlands Ambulance Community Trainer. One session at the library on 11/7/24 (20 attended) and one session on 11/8/24 at Avanti Field School with (12 attended)
Following the training session, it was noted that there was no accessible Defibrator near the library after Hamilton Hilltop GP surgery and Tesco closed, so the HRA Committee agreed to assist Hamilton Library in commissioning and installing an external Defibrillator, which will be accessible to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week. HRA was successful in obtaining an external defibrillator with match funding of £750 from London Hearts.
A bid has been made to the Humberstone and Hamilton Ward Community Budget, and we are currently awaiting the outcome.
If successful, we intend to do additional Defibrator/CPR sessions in Hamilton Library. Email newhamiltonresidents@gmail.com to express your interest in attending the workshop.
We regularly team up with Hope Hamilton Church to do a litter pick around the local area.
