New Defibrillator Commissioned at Hamilton Library
Hamilton Residents Association, in collaboration with Hamilton Library, Leicester City Council, and with matched funding from the charity “London Heart,” has now publicly launched the newly installed heart defibrillator on the outside wall of the Hamilton Library!
Councillor Ashiedu Joel was present to cut the tape and declare the facility available for the community to use when necessary. The defibrillator is housed in a secure cabinet that is illuminated and temperature controlled and also ensures the unit is always charged up and ready for use. Access is controlled by the emergency services on a 999 call, and they will also assist by giving step-by-step instructions to anyone who needs to use it.

Councillor surgeries are face-to-face meetings held by Leicester city councillors for local people to raise issues in their area. Surgeries provide an opportunity for any ward resident to go and talk to their councillor face to face and these take place on a regular basis.
Dog Fouling on the highway carries an £80 fixed penalty notice for anyone who is caught not picking up after their dog.
To report the dog fouling to Leicester City Council use the Love Leicester App or call 0116 4541001 or email city.warden@leicester.gov.uk

We are a residents’ association. Our membership includes everyone who lives within the geographical area of Hamilton within the City of Leicester and the ward of Humberstone and Hamilton. This includes homeowners and tenants.
Our primary aims are:
To bring the Hamilton Community together through organised Events.
To help support residents to improve the environment we live in by engaging with local service providers such as Leicester City Council City Wardens, Parks services, land management companies and Local Police beat officers
To support residents to look after our environment by encouraging them to engage in activities such as local litter picks.
Monthly Committee Meetings to provide a forum to raise local issues, engage with key local service providers and bid for funds from Ward Community Budget and other sources.
To support the local economy.
Our Committee members network with key service providers to encourage business-to-community links. For example, we have regular contact with Tesco Hamilton’s Community Champion, Greenbelt Groups Community Liaison Manager, Local Councillors and the Vicar at the Hope Hamilton church.
We are well placed to provide community links to our local schools and colleges:- Hope Hamilton CofE Primary School, Kestrel Mead Primary Academy, Orchard Mead Academy Secondary School and Gateway College via our ever-expanding social media channels which include Facebook, X (Twitter) and Instagram.
We have a strong team within the HRA Committee with Officers that include the Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary who help support committee members to work in areas they are passionate about whether it be looking after our environment, maintaining our community garden, or organising events or community clubs to help bring our neighbours and their families together in a warm and friendly environment.
